Evelyn Louise Blankenship, 87, of Riverview Nursing Home, Rick Creek, VA and formerly of Princeton, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at her residence. Born November 14, 1924 at Andover, VA, she was the daughter of the late Audie Coleman Parker and Cleo Teague Parker. Evelyn was a graduate of Appalachia High School and a former employee for National Geographic in Alexandra Va. While living in Princeton, she along with her late husband was members of First Baptist Church in Princeton. Evelyn had spent most of her life in Giles County VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh S. Blankenship along with her two siblings; Mary Ackerman and Anne Kero. Survivors include her son and his wife, Greg & Beth Blankenship. Her caregiver and special friends and their families, Patty & Jimmie Meadows of Rich Creek VA along with Vicki, Sarah & Samantha. And her extended family there at Riverview Nursing Facility. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2011 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton by 1:30 PM.
