Wesley Richard Martin, 79 of Unity Road, Princeton died at his residence on Monday morning, September 19, 2011 the day of his 56th wedding anniversary. Born in Athens on May 18, 1932 he was the son of the late Zina Sailor Martin and Ada Sloan Martin. Richard was retired from Forest Product Marketing Laboratory at Gardner. He was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton and he was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Garnet Martin and two sisters, Norma White and Marylea Young. Survivors include his wife, Lila Neely Martin; Two daughters, Sandy Renn and husband Donald and Shirley Joan Martin and Dean all of Princeton; Four Grandchildren, Ricky Sexton, Megan Belcher and husband Greg of Princeton, Corporal Jeffrey Renn of Idaho and Jennifer Renn also of Princeton; Siblings, Dorothy Martin, Willard Martin and Louise, Mozel Wyrick, Elaine Phillips and husband Tom and Stanley Martin and wife Dee all of Princeton. Brother-in-law, James "Bunny" White of Princeton. Sister-in-law, Ruby Nelson who gave him such loving care in his final weeks. Dear Friend, Phillip Edwards who for years has meant so much to Richard. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 22, 2011 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor John King and Pastor Jerry Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Neely Cemetery at Pipestem, where the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
