Dorothy Emma Shumate, 91, Foster Street, Princeton, died early Thursday morning, February 9, 2012, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born February 10, 1920, in West Warwick, RI, she was the daughter of the late Horace DeRuvis and Lillian Card DeRuvis.Mrs. Shumate was a graduate of West Warwick High School and a former employee of the Union Trust of Providence. While living in Princeton, Mrs. Shumate was a member of the Church of the Heavenly Rest on Mercer Street in Princeton and served for many years as a Volunteer at Princeton Community Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Shumate in 1999, a sister and brother in law, Lillian Cora & Norman Maine. Survivors include, her two children, Robert D. Shumate Jr. of Princeton and Sheila Anna Shumate of New York City, NY. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 13, 2012 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Father William Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Monday from Noon until the service hour at the funeral home.
